Our 25th Wedding Anniversary

Written for that special night 21 June 2005: A song to the tune of the Wild Rover (I like that song)

‘Tis true the wild rover we’ve played in the past

But in Moyne Rd it seems we have settled at last

For Mary there’s Debbie’s, Pete and I, Lansdowne Rd

Add the Luas, Mount Pleasant for the perfect abode

In Café Bardelli we’ve been known to frequent

With Joe and with Merci the odd night we’ve spent

We’ve had the odd Barbie and drinks on the lawn

The neighbours mind you are a bit of a yawn

Before there was Riyadh where I still frequent

The 3 years in full there was enough to have spent

In Bahrain there was great times with friends of the best

To say we just loved it would ne’er be in jest

I remember Aer Lingus the aul shamrock green

Where Mary and I checking in could be seen

Then out in Rathfeigh with those mild men of Meath

The secrets of Gaelic they tried to bequeath

Now of course there’s Joe Duffy, the traffic and rain

Tribunals, insurance, they’re all quite a pain

But with a bolt hole in Dubai a bet you might lay

The wild rover we could be again some fine day

Manipulate or Influence

I have a session coming up shortly on Effective Influence so I’ve been doing some reading. I came across an article titled ‘Psychological tricks to manipulate people’. The title made me uncomfortable. Whether you are a high powered Negotiator, work in Sales, provide Customer Service or you simply need to

Be on the look out …

“Make someone’s day” is a great recommendation. I read it in the book Fish written by Steven Lundin. He says it doesn’t have to be a life changing gesture. For some people at some times the phrase ‘How are you’ could change their life or make their day if used

Have you tried to contact your own organisation?

I just wanted to reclaim points due on my Credit Card loyalty scheme. Simple? Yes, maybe. Easy? Not with ‘XYZ Bank – Reward Scheme’.   No obvious link on the XYZ Home Page to their Reward Scheme dept. Tried their Search function. Had a quick look at FAQs. Still no
